Meredith Hall

Meredith Hall is the author of “Shunned” and “Killing Chickens,” essays which appeared in Creative Nonfiction. She was recently awarded the Pushcart Prize for “Shunned,” which has also been nominated for Best American Essays.

Ms. Hall is a Writing Instructor and Assistant Director of the Writing Program at the University of New Hampshire and she is a summer Workshop Instructor with the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. In addition to her teaching positions, Ms. Hall is the founder of the Student-Women-Writers Group at UNH and is the creator of the Writing Program for Girls at the YWCA Girls’ Emergency Shelter in Portland, Maine.

The Gift of Freedom will allow Meredith to complete a collection of personal essays which have already caught the attention of a major publisher. She plans to submit her collection for publication in June of 2005.
